Care Philosophy Page

Constantly striving to reach high standards, we received a good score for the overall running and management of the home, for staffing and our entertainments and daily living programme.

At The Old Vicarage you can expect to be fully supported in a warm and friendly atmosphere where your needs and comfort are our first priority. We take great care to ensure that we understand your needs whatever they may be. The Manager and her Care Co-Ordinator are available to chat or voice any concern you or your family may have.

We are confident that our Quality Assurance programme works well. Regular ‘Resident’s Forums’ are held where residents can and do voice their opinions on all aspects of their care and support. In respecting their choices we encourage them to be as independent as possible, which is why we call ourselves a Care Home. This is formally documented and forms are completed in confidence by each resident to evaluate and ensure improvement in all areas.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
Prospective residents will be invited to visit and meet the staff in order to assess the facilities and suitability of The Old Vicarage before moving in on a one month trial basis. Anyone wishing to view the home and meet the staff may call at any time without an appointment.

New residents will be admitted after a full assessment has been made by our experienced assessors. This assessment can include the resident's representative and relevant professionals.

For individuals referred through Social Services, the existing social care assessment, Care Plan and carers input will also be considered.

Admission assessment will include: personal care & well-being, diet & weight including dietary preferences, sight, hearing and communication, oral health, foot care, mobility and dexterity, history of falls, continence, medication, mental state and cognition, social interests, hobbies, religious & cultural needs, personal safety & risks, and family involvement. From the Admission procedure, a Plan of Care for Daily Living will be prepared, which will form the basis of the care to be provided and will also provide a yardstick for measuring whether appropriate care is being delivered.

Terms of Business - The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of all health and adult social care in England and was set up on the 1st April 2009. Their aim is to make sure better care is provided for everyone, whether that’s in hospital, in care homes, in people’s own homes, or elsewhere. The CQC regulates our business and we are obliged to give you our Statement of Purpose. Use this information to decide if our services are right for you.
