Our Activities co-ordinator ensures there is always something different happening every day. Residents can enjoy coffee mornings, barbecues during summer, music days, days out, fetes, painting and much more. Families visit often and join in our events.

Residents are encouraged to visit the local shops, parks or pubs when they choose, and staff are always willing to accompany them if required. We always celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. Several residents also visit our local restaurants and staff are always willing to accompany those residents who need assistance for whatever reason.

We firmly believe that participation in events is the resident's choice and that is part of our ethos.

The Old Vicarage staff are dedicated to creating activities according to our residents' needs and interests. A lot of activities are on a group basis, which creates a real community spirit.

The following is just a brief list of activities that are all part of the care package on offer:

Hairdressing and Barber salon
Chiropody services, Beauty and Manicure
Physiotherapy, Aromatherapy and Acupuncture and other complimentary therapies are available upon request. The home uses the services of Ely Complimentary Health Centre.
Newspaper and magazine delivery

We have a visiting library which also supplies talking books and books in braille.

Religious Services are regularly held in the Home with pastoral visits available on request for all denominations.

We recognise the importance of reminiscence as a regular activity for people with dementia and short-term memory loss and ensure that those who wish to join in this activity are fully supported. From memory enhancing activities, sensory stimulation and gardening for the more 'green fingered' of resident - we have a greenhouse - or just a good old sing song, there is something for most residents to enjoy.
